MAME stands for multiple arcade machine emulator. This recreates classic video games based on their original ROM images, and has worked well on PCs for use. Now the iPod mame gives a user hte ability to play Pacman, Ms. Pacman, Centipede, Zaxxon, and more on his iPod.

They had better step it up some it sounds like because Microsoft's competitor is reported to be equal parts MP3 and equal parts handheld game platform.

Does that technology work with other similar devices or just IPOD?

The article I read said that it had worked well with other PCs in the underground -- meaning that it wasn't a well-known advertised program. But yeah, it does work with other devices (like your computer).
