Default Printer ink

I don't understand why printers are cheap, but the ink can cost close or equal to the amount of the printer. I use my printer a lot, though recently have slowed down its use because of the cost of the ink. Then, if you have to buy both black and colored ink, your looking to spend around a minimum of $70.00! A new printer costs that. If you need to replace your ink cartridge monthly or every other month, look at the yearly cost that is. Is there a reason this computer printer ink is so expensive?

I have an HP PhotoSmart and I just had to buy an ink cartridge for the first time (I've had the printer for a year). I'm going to lie, I don't print a TON but I am in school and I have a digital camera, so I print my fair share. I couldn't believe when I went to best buy to pick up the cartridge, prepared to spend like $30 and it was only $8. So happy! I highly recommend the HP PhotoSmart printer - I have been so happy with mine.

Although inkjet printers were first mass-produced in the 1980s, it was only in the 1990s that prices dropped low enough for that technology to be brought into the mass consumer market. Canon claims to have invented what it calls 'bubble jet' technology in 1977, when a researcher accidentally touched an ink-filled syringe with a hot soldering iron and the heat forced a drop of ink out of the needle. And so began the development of a new printing method.

Inkjet printers have made rapid technological advances in recent years. First, the three-color printer succeeded in making color inkjet printing an affordable option; but as the superior four-color models became cheaper to produce and sell, it wound up being the standard and users' choice.

Inkjet printing has two chief benefits over laser printers: lower printer cost and color-printing capabilities. But while inkjet printers are priced much less than laser printers, they are actually more expensive to use and maintain. Cartridges need to be changed more frequently and the special coated paper required to produce high-quality output is very expensive. At a cost per page level, inkjet printing costs about 10 times more than laser printing.

anyhow i've put together a new yet slightly older computer. i'm running a pentium and all is well but my newer samsung printer won't work. all drivers seem to be installed fine. the computer shows that the printer is installed. checked printer with my laptop, no problem.

They entice you to buy a very good printer, looks like a bargain. They then sell you ink by money. They like the underdog position. This is a very old marketing tradition, dating back to the original Kodak camera and a Gillette blade. King Gillette (people) realize that if he gave away the razor, people will continue to buy back his blade, even cheaper alternatives.
