Question Scanning a picture of a picture

Has anyone ever done this? My mom has been working on some heritage projects, and when visiting a great aunt, she discovered some dandy old photographs. However, my tight-fisted aunt wouldn't give them up (I wouldn't have either.) So Mom ended up taking a picture of the pictures. Has anyone ever scanned one of these? Any tips on receiving an optimal digital picture?

It would be no different than scanning a picture of anything else.

I was thinking that some good photo editing would clean up any imperfections anyways.

Photo Impression 2000 which is a neat little program that allows you to edit but you can also make calenders, holiday cards , and all kinds of neat stuff.

Cool - I'll have to check this one out. I've used Adobe Photoshop before, but that's a pretty pricey program.

The price is not the problem with this program. You can get it anywhere for under 30.00 And I like it because it saves a trip to the store to buy cards. We have another editing program on our computer but again some things are just too confusing for the electronically impared and I can not figure out how to use it.

I can relate to not being able to use all the imaging software available. I have MGI 8.0 but I don't like it as much as the Ulead Express that we loaded on from our old computer. I don't know if it's that I am more familiar with it or if it's a better program, but I can get excellent collages, cropping, photo cleanup with it.
