Default How to keep Scanner from getting scratched

I've had two flatbed scanners, not very expensive ones but they worked well for my minimal needs. Any suggestions on how to keep the scanner face from getting scratched, which causes little imperfections in your scans.

Default scanner ideas

Normally, if I am not using my scanner, I put either a piece of paper towel or some kleenex on it.

In case your scanner is bumped for some reason, the kleenex, paper towel or small towel will keep it from scratching.

I would also use newspapers and glass cleaner when cleaning it.

Newspapers are known for not leaving marks, which paper towels seem to do.

Perhaps you might want to try some kind of foam wrapping to protect your scanner? You can go to any office supply store to find it.

Instead of tissues or paper towels, I would a soft towel. Tissues and paper towels have a tendency to leave little fuzzies behind that are hard to get rid of. A soft towel eliminates that.

Thanks for your good advice. I really never knew the best way to keep a scanner or printer in good shape. Since I am on a tight budget, I really need to take the time to care for my equipment.

Exclamation no paper!!!!!

please do not use paper towel-----to clean your screens on puter or scanners or lense on camera---or even tv screen----there are wood particles that will scatch----eye glasses too!----buy special clothes for cleaning these items and use only them to do so.

Cool paper

newspaper is better than paper towel----but---a soft cloth is totally best----and one used exclusively for your screens and scanner beds is best. as far as protecting the bed----I think a soft cloth like a shammie type would be better than paper.
