My espon 4490 scanner has been working well scanning my parent's medium format negatives (color and b/w). i've been scanning at 1200 dpi in the professional mode.

The scanner has shown the following error message, mid scan:
Scanner cannot allocate required memory. quit applications and try again.
This occurs with no other applications running, on my brand new dell 9150 with 1GB memory, 250 GB hard drive.
Funny thing is, it scans well at the settings described above for a while, then shuts down. espon support had me download a new driver (the disk that came with the scanner might have been corrupted, they said). this worked for a while, but then the problem was back.

The windows virtual memory could need adjusting it may fix the problem for you.

This kind of problem arises only if the system is infected by virus. Check it out. Then uninstall your driver file. Again reinstall updated version of driver file.
