BOSE leader or not?
I have always heard great things about BOSE speakers and how they catch all the points in the room when you use them and they effortlessly capture surround sound?
But are they the leader that is what I want to know because if they are not I want the best?
So if there are any claims out there that there is something better than BOSE please let me know and the rest of us on the net know who is better than BOSE speakers because yeah that would be amazing I think.
Oh well I guess better would have to include a cheaper price tag but nothing that takes away from quality lets be fair here people.
Thanks

Sure, Bose are great, but certainly far from the best. Bose puts a lot of money into marketing their product and image, making most see them as the pinnacle in audio. There is better available for the same price, or even less. Of course, there is also much better available for a higher price.

Speakers
I purchased speakers from Radio Shack and I still use them ten years later. The speakers are small, very efficient.

I also agree that Bose spends lots of money on marketing and advertising. Their products are not worth the price. Although they're small and OK in their production of sound, they're not the best. You can get better speakers for the price of bose. But they're not worth the money.
If your looking for bookshelf sized speakers B&W are ok for small speakers.
If your looking for floor speakers the standards are Pioneer, Klipsch, Infinity are all pretty decent without being too expensive.
It really depends on what your using your speakers for : home theatre, strictly music, and the size of the room, etc.
Bose is not great for music sound quality if your are using it for extensive music listening.

I think Bose has worked hard to market itself into becoming a household name. The other names like Pioneer and Infinity definitely don't have the same brand recognition.

Bose?
Just because it's recongizable household name, doesn't mean that it's a great product. Sure everyone has heard of Bose, but i know very few people who actually own them. I would go with a little lesser known brand (however, Pioneer, Infinity, etc. are BIG household names to people that know good speakers) and get better quality for your money than go with the name brand of bose and not get the best quality for what you're buying. you can try bose - i know a few people who bought a pair of their speakers at second hand stores for a way cheaper price - but i think you can get more bang for your money with a different brand.
Again, it really depends on what your using the speakers for - home theatre, music, etc. different speakers work better for different types of jobs.

By stating that it's a household name, I didn't mean it was a better product. Actually, I think their resources could best be used in improving the quality of the product rather than on advertising.

I agree! i just never had heard anything good about them myself. So i might have a prejudice against them...but they're advertising is amazing and i can see where people get sucked into them.

I am not a Bose fan, I suppose they are decent speakers, but there are a ton of other brands that are considerably better in my opinion.

I always figured that anything endorsed by Paul Harvey must be good. He's been pushing the Bose Acoustic Wave Radio radio for years.
