Post Laundry gone High Tech

Laundry as High Tech?
A give-away to age, but I remember washing my jeans in an old wringer washing machine and running them through the wringer about twenty times so that I could iron them dry on the mangle iron before meeting with friends. My jeans were always perfectly creased----but stiff—until they had been worn down by the consistent laundering practice.. I really don’t remember a huge variety of laundry products back then—little attention was paid to soft laundry—much more to starched shirts.
In recent years we have seen fantastic evolution in the way we clean our clothes. Laundry products to clean in cold—products to bleach colors clean—products to brighten—products to sanitize baby clothes—products to make you smell fresh in your newly washed clothing—products to soften your towels and under clothing—and products to crisp your outer wear. Then the technology of the new washing and drying machines----a compartment to pour detergent—a compartment for fabric softener and one for bleach and brighteners—and if that is not enough—they are digital pieces of art that make doing laundry a no brainier—just push the button for the type of clothes and the machine knows what to do—when it comes to drying—same technology—push a button and go.
Just when you think it couldn’t get any better than this----IT DOES
How about a piece of technology for your laundry area that eliminates the use of hot water? Soap? Fabric Softener? Bleach? How about restoring the color that heavy detergents mask? What if your limp towels had a new fluffiness to them after 6 washes? What if your clothing was lasting longer and looking newer longer? What if I told you since there were no chemicals added to your clothing or the environment that you were putting yourself at less risk of allergy outbreaks caused from caustic cleaning chemicals and you were doing a share to protect the environment?
PRETTY NEAT HUH???
Now-----what if I told you this technology also sanitized your clothing and left a protective barrier shielding your skin—A sponge----from the toxic environment we live in?
IT”S HERE-----Laundry Pure
No more lugging super size bottles of detergent and bleaches and softeners from the grocery store.
No more damaging hot water No more chemical residue on your clothes. Blocking the fabrics beauty.
YES—I know it’s hard to think of laundry and how we do it as innovative technology----But in reality is has come as far as the adding machine to computer has—the crank phone to cell phone
the 8 track to DVR—Isn’t it great??????

Cool -- so we could still get that "line-fresh" smell on our clothes when we hang them on the line with the benefits of a high-tech washing machine.

A really cool new concept dubbed Laundry view, colleges and universities can set up networks of washing machines and dryers. Via an online site, students can see which machines are free and how much time is left on those that are currently in use. The system will send alerts to mobile phones and PDA’s when the machine a student is using finishes its cycle. According to the site, Laundry view will also track overall usage for the last two weeks, so students can determine which days and times are usually the busiest.
