Question Missing Out On New Shows

I have been reading that a drawback to tivo is missing updates on new shows - like... because of being able to fast forward through commercials, missing promos for now shows.
Do you think when people stop seeing promos, it will be harder to get them to watch new things?

Who knows i guess it depends on the person if they fall in love with a show like I hav elike Desperate house wives then they dont need promos You hear the promos on the radieo anyways and on every channel so what does it really matter

Question

meh
i dunno
i think it's kinda like this:
I used to dislike previews before a movie... i just wanted to watch the movie.
but then i realized everyone knew about a bunch of movies i didn't, because i missed the previews.
put missing previews on top of fast forwarding commercials (or even just watching a show on dvd), and listening to cd's instead of radio, and all you really seem to have is internet pop-ups & word of mouth, which isn't going to be much if everyone else is doing the same thing.
i dunno. I guess if the show just comes up and you decide to watch it, that works (i've done that a few times... just flip to a channel i like when i don't know what else is on and start watching a show that way).
but that creates a new thing... if you have pre-recorded things or tivo telling you your favorite show is on, you're probably not going to just flip to something and check it out since you already have shows you watch.
*shrug*

You have to wonder if TiVo does affect new shows. But TV savvy people will also read reviews on new shows and get their info that way. I think it IS harder for new TV shows to survive now, though, because network executives hack them before they really have a chance.

That does stink. A lot of satellite providers will allow you to get local channels now for a small fee ($5 a month). That's what we do now. Before, we would just turn off our cable box and use our "bat wings" on top of the house to pick up local channels.
