Tivo Rocks!!!
I use to have a TiVo, but it broke!...
I loved my TiVo... It was so cool to see what shows it would record. The main problem I had was that I never had enough memory. I only had 40 hours of saved time and I could record that in a weeks time easily.
Does TiVo have a recorder with more memory out? That would be nice... but I want like 200 hours!!!

It's a good time to start dumping TiVo. Between upcoming banner ads and possible inability to skip commercials, there are better solutions out there.

Prices for Tivo
Does anyone know the prices of Tivo? Are there cheaper places to get it? Is there something you should look for when you look for it? Who installs it? Any advice???

Why Tivo
OK, my question is why tivo- What is so special about Tivo that you cant do with a cheap DVD recorder. First of all if tivo is going to be doing ads it pretty much makes it worthless. If I’m going to watching live TV I could simply hit record on my DVD player and watch the little bit I missed during the next commercial. It is really worth the money?

great for get togethers
My friends and I meet each week to watch "Survivor". It starts at 7:00 CST, but there's always someone who's running late and arrives at 7:07. So with Tivo, we just wait until everyone arrives, pour ourselves a glass of wine, then settle down to watch every moment of our favorite show together!

I don't have Tivo. Is it true that Tivo starts to program shows for you according to what it thinks you like to watch? What if you program one episode of "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List"? Does that mean it will start taping "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy", "Project Runway", and every other show on Bravo?

The main difference is convenience- an internal hard drive is much more convenient than individual blank media. However, any DVR uses a hard drive, and doesn't have the intrusive DRM that Tivo is adding to their service.

Been thinking about getting tivo but if they're going to put on banners and allow commercials then I think I'll pass. The main reason I'd get it would be to eliminate commercials. Watching tv in real time is becoming more of a challenge because the commercials are so annoying.

I wish I had Tivo. If I did though I'd just sit and watch Battlestar Galactica over and over again. Probably Lost too.
