Default calling 911 from your PC

Today you are able to call 911 from your PC with a microphone and volume youll have the police and whatever emergency vehicles and people there. You can do it over yahoo and you can do it with a special program designed to find your IP address and locate the call. It is a bit crazy do you think this is a good invent ?

It's a bit scary to think that type of software is available for use in the public sector. I guess there might be a time when I couldn't reach my cell next to the keyboard, or the portable phone on the desk, but at that time will I think clearly enough to go to yahoo and call 911? Probably not.

It doesn't surprise me that this is an option. I would say it is a good option if you are in a room and can't get to a phone, or even have a phone close by. I wonder how it would work in finding locations though. You can be a the Holiday Express using your lap top on their network and call 911. If someone broke into your house you could call 911 without the phone line. But if it's anything like our house, there is a phone in every room and enough cell phones laying around that I don't think phone usage will be a problem. What will they come up with next. Maybe a "Clapper" that you clap twice and a 911 dial lights up at the police station. Anyone want to work on that?

That's why Jodi Foster should've had a computer put into the panic room.

Is this a voice activated 911 software? I was wondering how it would work. Like if a person was having a stroke or heart attack or something, could they just cry out "Help!" and the software would automatically dial 911 for them? I also wonder if the GPS they use is actually dialing the local 911 according to the telephone number or zip code that your server has on its billing address. I haven't a clue but it would be interesting to find out how it works.

Cool chichen crap here!!!!

I really don't like the idea of software that enables someone to trace exactly where I am at. yes the purpose for 911 is good----but knowing that everything has a price----will put this in the hands of someone undesirerable I am sure. Soon a stalker won't have to stand in the cold for hours to stalk someone---thet will have electronic trackers on your butt---pun ----

We think the world has changed in that we do not let our kids out of our site in a public place---what about when you start worrying from your own kitchen. Never fear---once there is jibber on the net---lol---it is aleready out there and working.

the guy that is going to make the money is the guy that builds a jammer for the signals your devices out out.

I am not sure how that would work with laptops, but the idea is interesting...
